Announcing: New Bloggers at The Book Geek

A few weeks ago, we advertised for new bloggers at The Book Geek. An astonishing number of amazing applications came through from fellow book lovers and I was completely humbled by your enthusiasm to be part of our team. After spending many hours going through the applications with Brandi, deciding which potential reviewers would most complement our blog and offer different perspectives also, we finally selected four new team members.
Readers, I am delighted to introduce you to: Angela, Chantal, Aimee and Jenny.

Angela

Hi! My name is Angela and I’m from the USA. I live in Baltimore, Maryland, with my husband and three teenage daughters. I’m positively addicted to romance and most of the sub-genres (contemporary, romantic-suspense, new adult, erotica). Whether it’s sweet or sexy; funny or emotional; light or suspenseful – as long as it’s a good love story then I’m game. My love affair with books began in my tween years when I discovered Judy Blume’s books and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I was a musical theatre major in college and when I’m not working, or reading, or being an unpaid chauffeur/teen counselor/chef/hair stylist/personal shopper/maid/tutor/fashion consultant (aka mom), I can be found on the stage in local theatrical productions. I’m likely to break into song at any given moment. Fair warning.

Chantal

Hi! I’m Chantal; I’m a Swiss citizen currently studying Marketing in the UK and I adore books (naturally). Besides the actual reading part, I also love reviewing and writing my own stories. Although I will read all kinds of fiction and my tastes are constantly changing, I would consider my favourite genre to be fantasy. There is just something about being able to lose yourself in a world completely different from your own and knowing anything is possible. I look for books with great worldbuilding and flawed characters that have realistic relationships with one another. I’m a sucker for premises that promise a ton of imagination and originality!

When I’m not reading, reviewing or working for uni you will find me dancing (mostly ballet and contemporary), cooking, watching TV or listening to music. I can pretty much not go a day without the latter. I am a notorious daydreamer (as my family knows well) and you will often find me staring out into nothing lost in my own thoughts.

I’m new to the blogging community but I cannot wait to make my first experiences here. There is nothing like the feeling of reading a book you love and being able to recommend it to others and share your thoughts on it. I am so happy to be part of this team and look forward to discuss all kinds of bookish things with all of you!

Aimee

Howdy, it’s Aimee! I’m a sarcastic teen bookworm and lover of the written word. You’d often find my nose deep in a young adult novel of any genre from realistic fiction to weird-ass fantasy–I’d like to say that my reading tastes are diverse. While I mostly read young adult (you know, because I am one), I occasionally read from other age groups as well, because I’m awesome like that. Romance is my game–I guess you could say I’m a hopeless romantic. I rarely read books without romance, but sometimes it happens.

I’m a tenth grader (even if I do look like a fifth grader) who loves to nap and occasionally watch anime. I also have a huge passion for digital art! And Logan Lerman, because that guy is freaking adorable. Oh, and I love public speaking, too! I enjoy speaking in front of a crowd, but I can be extremely awkward during one-on-one talks.

JennyJen

Hey. I’m typically known as JennyJen, but Jenny will do. I’m a 30-something book geek. I live about an hour outside of NYC in The United States of ‘Murica. My fave genres include horror, sci-fi, and fantasy, for the most part. You would not believe how many bad zombie books I read. Other than books, my pets, plants, and thrifting addiction take up most of my time. Because I’m a party animal.

Thank you to everyone who applied to be part of our blog. It was not an easy decision and our shortlist had about thirty people on it, but I am confident that these lovely ladies above will help The Book Geek continue to deliver reviews and content that you will love.
Happy reading!
~ Emily
